The House-Museum of the Tukays,
Kushlavych, Arsky district, Tatarstan
The Tukays House-Museum was founded in the motherland of the great Tatar poet in 1996 in the village of Kushlavych. The museum is situated in the area of restored estate of mullah Mukhametgariph. The exposition shows the house of the future poet’s parents, its interior.
The fact that G.Tukay was descended from the family of mullah is clearly shown in the men’s half of the house. It has similar features with the country madrasah in its appearance. Seven generations of mullahs by the father’s side are known nowadays.
The women’s half of the house is a world of the mother. It represents a traditional image of the country Tatar house where a lot of things were done by women’s magical hand. The private things of the poet’s mother are kept here. The atmosphere of Lares and Penates is created by an active stove.
The biggest part of the exposition is devoted to the life of G.Tukay, his formation as a citizen, personality and poet.
