Sahib Djamal, Arabic writer:
I have wholeheartedly come to love Tukay, a great son of the talented Tatar nation, and now tremblingly write these lines about him. My soul is overwhelmed with pride for him. He lived without any political mask… He belonged to the number of those people who gave his nation their power, all their lives, being afraid for their future, for tomorrow not a bit. Behavior of such people is usually guided by wise courage and violent gusts of elevate.
They say I am violent in struggles,
Because the way of socialists is
Also my way, fair and direct, the poet wrote. (word-for-word translation)
Tukay was not a poet with narrow national views. To me, an Arab, Tukay is close and dear also because by his works he called people for an active struggle for freedom, justice.
Love Tukay, love all the beauty of his soul, his poetry, full of spring and penetrative human wisdom.
