Fatih HOSNI about Tukay…

Fatih Hosni (1908–1996), Writer, Gabdulla Tukay TASSR State Prize laureate (1972), National Writer of the Republic of Tatarstan (1993):

…Tukay has become a whole epoch. Studying the history of our nation, we cannot avoid the name of Tukay.

Each nation has its own genius artists who reflected characteristic features of the national tunes, aspirations, holidays, distinctive qualities, tales, and dreams in the language of art. The Russians have Pushkin, Tolstoy, and Gorky; the Frenchmen have Balzac and Flaubert; the Englishmen are proud of Shakespeare and Byron while the Spaniards worship their Cervantes and Lope de Vega; the Italians and Greeks amaze the world with their silver-haired, but at the same-time ever-young works of art, but the Tatars can also proudly claim, “We have Gabdulla Tukay!”

However, at the same time we should make a mention of the second truth. Such great historical figures cannot keep within the national bounds. Representing national peculiarities, their suggested ideas become common for all the humanity.

…Being so great and bright, ideas suggested by Tukay can undoubtedly be referred to the international ones.
