From the first day of meeting with Tukay’s works, the great Tatar poet became my all-time favourite poet and teacher. Being just a student of pedagogical Institute, I knew by heart a lot of poems of Tukay and translated them into the Kara-Kalpak language.
Each line of Tukay’s poems is like a laden wheat ear with heavy and green grains. This ear has no any fistulous grain, any husk. Like a wheat bread, Tukay’s poems are pleasant for everybody, understandable and valuable for everybody. Because Alpha and Omega of Tukay’s poetry was the nation’s poetry, and hymning the nation’s spiritual life, dreams and hopes of the nation.
